McKintosh's Toffee-de-Luxe

A change from the colourised photos of recent posts.

It’s 1920 and postwar Britain was slowly recovering from the horrors of the ‘War to end all wars’. They were also enjoying the peace and for some, the prosperity.

This is a collection of some adverts/images from a magazine from 1920.

Is it just me or were adverts more elegant and somewhat less subtle back then?

I especially like the one for Evans’ Pastilles and the Lister-Bruston Automatic Electric Lighting Plant 🙂

Nowadays images like this adorn the walls of ‘trendy’ cafés and Bistro’s.
